Episode 10 – The NoES Teaser
Again, sorry for the delay. Computers are fickle creatures, I have learned. There might be some slight buzzing for which we are very very sorry.
The Nightmare on Elm Street teaser trailer has finally been released, and since we have been asking for it since Comic Con -back in July- we have dedicated this episode to discussing both the actual trailer and the reactions it got. Read the full post for a rundown of topics.
00:58 – Mail! Listener comments:
- From Dai: “The comments section in this episode has sparked me to post a question that’s been on my mind for a while:which of JEH’s works have you all seen (or not seen, if that would be the better question)? I just checked my progress on his IMDB page, and was a little surprised to find that I’m not even halfway through (15 our of 42, though 5 of those have yet to be released and another few are nigh impossible to find).”
- We, at World Peace Through Jackie Earle Haley, fully recommend watching Maniac Cop 3. It’s so bad… it’s good!
06:10 – Who Runs Paramount? Contest. Don’t forget to vote!
06:36 – The second Shutter Island trailer.
- Less spoilers?
- Thanks for releasing it on the old release date, Paramount!
08:10 – The Nightmare on Elm Street Teaser Trailer
- One of MySpace’s top videos of all time. Wow.
- What do we think of the trailer?
- The sweater reveal!
- It is JUST a trailer, you know?
- The new look: Scarier? Better?
- We are liking the voice so far.
20:20 – Public reactions to the trailer
- It’s NOT Robert Englund :(
- We feel your pain. But having Robert Englund as Freddy does not a good movie make.
- There are only fours words scarier than “From producer Michael Bay” and those are “A Michael Bay film”.
25:20 – Brad Fuller’s response [link to blog entry]
- Was it a mistake?
- “Not a random statement, just another blog entry.”
33:26 – Final thoughts on the trailer

It was even better seeing the trailer on the big screen. I kind of wish that was I how I first saw it. Regardless of the compaints or the faults it does have (odd sweater reveal), I still really like what they put together for the teaser. It got my heart pumping, so I’d say it did its job. (Oh, and I’m really glad it wasn’t in front of “Jennifer’s Body” like it was supposed to be. “Zombieland” was an awesome movie, and more people went to see that anyway.)
Thanks for answering my question. It sounds like we’re mostly on the same page.
I feel the need to say something for Damnation Alley. It’s not Bad News Bears or Maniac Cop, but it’s still worth a watch if only for adorable rock-slinging Billy. Better yet, the whole movie is on youtube, so it’s pretty accessible.
Dai: I agree completely, I love Damnation Alley and I really think it is worth a watch if you are into the genre (of course, it’s also very recommendable for JEH fans looking to watch some of his older work).
And I would also like to make a point for Dollman, because I really like it and not just in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way. xD
I like Damnation Alley, too.
I was really looking forward to seeing the NOES trailer on the big screen with Zombieland, but my theater didn’t show it! What gives? But yeah, Jennifer’s Body flopped, and Zombieland was loads of awesome.
