Episode 17 – Shutter Island (movie)

A little late, but it’s here! Episode 17 is all about the Shutter Island movie! Please be aware that although there is some non-spoilerish discussion, after the spoiler warning all bets are off. You will be spoiled. So if you haven’t seen the movie I suggest you turn it off once you hear the spoilers begin. Show notes coming later today.

Big kudos to Erin for editing this twice -once, as a first and then a second time after her computer decided to die on her and take the just finished episode with it.

Wonderful On the podcast!!!
I think it was funny, short and straight to the point

I personal don’t think Freddy and Rorschach sound the same
didn’t think the wall scene looked bad and did recognize the floor turning into thicken water part of the girl slowly sinking in…

I enjoy shutterisalnd and Jackie’s part was short but a wonderful short…

how many mins was his screen time?

i don’t know but great job

Finally got around to seeing Shutter Island for myself today. I know, shame on me for seeing it so late, but hey, I got a fairly quiet theatre. Now to find the book and give that a read.

Anyway… yeah, pretty much what you guys said. I noticed a lot of scenes with ‘continuity errors.’ I think it just adds to the overall effect of the movie. Another thing I noticed was that the color tone of the movie changed a couple of times, but maybe that was just the projector and had nothing to do with the movie.

Good to know I wasn’t the only one to catch on to the ‘big twist’ that early on, but now I can’t decide if I wish I had known it was that obvious and watching for other stuff or if it was fine the way it was and just enjoying the suspense.

Honestly i only saw the movie once because reading the book and seeing it just one time was enough for me….

I felt like I shouldn’t have read the book first

I’ve just seen the movie a third time and I love the whole damn thing. It’s just fun for me to watch. I do think the movie is much more enjoyable when you’re not worrying about whether you’ve already guessed the ‘twist’ or not (that was my experience reading the book, and it was distracting there too).

I noticed the color change too; a few people have. I have no idea if that was intentional. Someone needs to investigate further.
